On Sunday, August 3rd, 2024 Candace Siebert, Herculaneum Park Superintendent, received notification of a swarm of bees in town. Siebert quickly changed into her beekeeping suit and sprang into action. She arrived on scene to a large collection of bees that had gathered in a fellow neighbor’s tree. Local residents and neighborhood children looked on as the bees were coxed and collected into a temporary bee box by Siebert. “The bees were very docile and easy to collect,” said Siebert. The bees are happy to have a temporary home in their bee box on Siebert’s property. She will be moving the bees to their permanent home at her apiary where they will be safe and able to establish a new hive.
