Last year, our city voted to transfer our local court to the Jefferson County Circuit Court—a change that will save the city $100,000 to $150,000 annually in expenses. During this transition, we discovered that our court records had not been properly digitized or accounted for since 1972. To complete the process, every single document had to be reviewed, recorded, and organized—a massive undertaking, as we had shipping containers full of sensitive court records.

Because these records could only be handled by state-certified court clerks, the city assembled a dedicated team of OSCA-certified clerks to tackle the challenge. With just three months before the deadline, these incredible professionals worked tirelessly—often into the late hours of the night—to bring our records up to date.

Against all odds, we met the deadline. Today, we celebrated their hard work and dedication with a well-earned lunch. I am beyond grateful for this team—they accomplished what seemed impossible, and their efforts will have a lasting financial impact on our city!
